BASF presents new Elastollan® 1400 TPU series at Fakuma 2024

BASF launches a new ether-based thermoplastic polyurethane: Elastollan® 1400. The new TPU series provides exceptional hydrolysis and microbe resistance. The material combines stable processing behavior with good compression set properties and delivers outstanding burst pressure performance. Processed by extrusion and injection molding Elastollan® 1400 is suitable for a wide range of applications. Whether it is railway pads, hoses, profiles, or shoe soles, because of its aging stability the new grades provide reliability and long-lasting performance. For the footwear industry, superior wet slip resistance is a key benefit, ensuring enhanced safety and comfort.

After more than two years of research, experimental grades for specific applications and processing technologies are available for sampling. At the Fakuma 2024 (booth B4-4304) visitors are invited to have a look at the product's performance firsthand and discuss mechanical properties in detail.

The advanced material technology of Elastollan® 1400 series offers a lower carbon footprint when compared to TPU grades with a comparable performance. Of course, this is only one aspect when it comes to sustainable solutions. Mass-balanced Elastollan®, bio-based feedstock and recycled content will help to reduce the carbon footprint of future products even more and, at the same time, maintain the properties and quality criteria of conventionally produced TPU. By offering new products and new technologies, BASF empowers customers and partners to become more sustainable, supporting the faster transition towards a more circular economy.
